Green Valentine: Review
4.5/5 stars
READ ON FOR NON-SPOILER REVIEW:
Firstly, I loved the themes explored in this book. Guerrilla gardening + change + school + romance + family and friends = awesome plot. The setting was interesting and unique, although sometimes a bit overly gloomified (is that even a word?).
Secondly, I enjoyed the diversity of the characters, however, I felt like some were not explored to as much depth as others, and it was up to the reader to fill in the empty slots.
Thirdly, the pacing and narrative arc were quite well-executed, and the shocking reveals were placed very well in the story.
The ending made me feel good. However, one drawback: at times the story felt a bit rushed and did not meet a solid end like it should have.
All in all, it was an inspiring and educational read that I highly recommend.

Lili Wilkinson has such a diverse range of books and topics! How does she come up with her ideas? Cults to eco-movements to doomsday prepping and much more!
